World We Dare to Imagine - Part 1
With there being so many issues in our world, it's virtually impossible to narrow down the one that is the most important. However, in order to make the world a better place, I believe that we must first focus on the youth and the future of our planet. It is a known fact that there are underprivileged kids all over the world that not only don't have the ability to get a proper education, but also don't even have the basic necessities to live. If I had the financial means to give back, I would be creating ways to help underprivileged kids who don't have access to a proper education get this education.
Not only do I believe this will help these kids have a better future, but it will also help the world as a whole. In the U.S. we have many trade partners and many countries that we do business with. If we were to educate kids in the poverty stricken countries of Africa for example who could grow up and provide things that will benefit the economy in the world as a whole.
While it's been well documented that there are people who volunteer their time to educate people in these countries, it is clearly not enough. My money would go towards providing the resources these kids need as well as to pay teachers to teach these kids. Many people want to help, but everyone needs to make money for themselves so by incentivising teachers to make the journey to these countries to help out is something that I believe will go a long way in changing the future for these kids.
As far as I understand you want to raise money for teachers to go into developing countries to teach there. I think you could make a greater impact by helping local teacher to meet their goals. I think that foreigners teaching a class is not going to have the same impact as if a local teacher with the same motivation and passion would teach it. The students would not have the same connections to the instructors and language barriers would be an additional issue. You could start a program which teaches teachers how to teach and sustaining them financially during their careers. In addition you could give out bonuses for teachers who have special achievements.
ReplyDeleteYou will have to determine the scope of your organization either geographically or based on the mission. If you try to achieve everything, you will be overwhelmed by the load.
I really like your idea for this assignment. After reading Patrick's comment, I would like to argue that the local area might not have enough teachers themselves so that might be why teachers from some other countries might be an option. But for the most part I agree with staying local.
ReplyDeleteI agree with that investing in our future means investing in the youth, whether that be giving opportunities to smart children who would've otherwise been overlooked or teaching them to learn from our mistakes and to have bigger dreams. I think it is important to give underprivileged kids access to education so that they can stop the cycle of poverty in their family. Often, individuals are smart enough and driven enough to make a better life for themselves, but simply dont have the opportunities.
